Career

September 2013 – April 2015 Guest Curator, English Heritage Stonehenge Visitor Centre curating Soldiers at Stonehenge exhibition on the First World War which opened 6 November 2014 and remains open until mid-April 2015.

1997 – Present Freelance Historian and Tour Guide, designing and guiding military history tours in France, Belgium, Turkey, Italy, Normandy, North Africa, Canada and the UK.

2004-2010 Lecturer University of Liverpool and University of Lancaster, designing and running undergraduate and continuing education courses on aspects of the First World War.

2003 – 2004 Deputy Head, Museum of Liverpool Life.

1994 – 2003 Curator King’s Regiment Museum, Museum of Liverpool Life.

1990 – 1993 Exhibitions Officer, Royal Engineers Museum.

1987 – 1990 Assistant Curator, Royal Engineers Museum.

Honorary Research Associate, Centre for First World War Studies, University of Birmingham.

Member British Commission for Military History.

Qualifications

1995 MA University of Liverpool History (dissertation: Fenianism in the Liverpool Irish Rifle Volunteers).

1992 MA University of Leicester Museum Studies (dissertation: Presenting Imperialism in Museums).

1987 BA University of Sunderland History & English Literature with War & Conflict Studies, Upper Second.
